A recent study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) proves that a combined technique of liposuction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) reduces complication rates and still offers excellent outcomes.
In the past, plastic surgeons left behind some abdominal fat and connective tissue during a tummy tuck, to reduce risks, including the possibility of seromas, a collection of fluid underneath the skin, and thus compromising the cosmetic result. However, recent studies show there is a lower rate of seromas, after a combined abdominoplasty and liposuction procedure.
